My Teaching Philosophies

Teaching revolves around connection, compassion, and communication. Every designer has a unique set of skills only they can possess. My job is to lead them down that road.

Trust the Process

Trust the process. Play the long game. Sacrifice in the short term to reap long term benefits. Overnight successes are rare. Consistency, mixed with hard work, can help you reap the benefits of a successful life in the creative industry. Be accountable, be on time, don’t take shortcuts.

Design Everything

Take every chance you can to be a designer. Brand every portfolio project. Make a logo for your apartment. Design everything. Put yourself into boxes, take yourself out of those boxes. Practice your craft. Build your style, build other people’s styles. Become reliable, and you’ll never be without work.

Keep It Funky

Keep it Funky! Have some fun. Do something different. If the tide is going left, run right, see what happens. Go back to the classic or fall in love with the modern. Being a creative doesn’t have to mean staying in one lane. Stay on the trail when you have to, but don’t be afraid to explore a side mission.
